The Big Latch On Founders: Women’s Health Action coordinate the Big Latch On in New Zealand and Small Beginnings Group, LLC DBA Global Big Latch On coordinates the Global Big Latch On.
Women’s Health Action is a not for profit, New Zealand registered charitable trust partially funded by the New Zealand Ministry for Health. Their vision is Well Women Empowered in a Healthy World.
Small Beginnings Group, LLC is owned by Joanne Edwards. It is a small for-profit company that offers family wellness and lactation services in Portland, Oregon. For many years we have considered the option of creating a not for profit structure for the Global Big Latch On, however the costs of doing this have been and continue to be prohibitive.
The continued success and growth of the Global Big Latch On is reliant on the amazing support from the community. We appreciate and are very grateful your continued support of the Global Big Latch On.
So, where does all the money come from and how is it spent?
I think those are fair questions and I want to answer them for you as clearly as I can.
I have always wanted to keep the Global Big Latch On free to host and participate in. I believe supporting breastfeeding and families at a community level is really important and I want to make sure as many families as possible have access to the support that comes from attending a Big Latch On.
Each year it costs around $3000 to keep the website online and a further $3000 dollars are invested to make improvements that make everyone's involvement in the Global Big Latch On easier.
Other costs include the subsidising of host boxes to make hosting easy for everyone, insurance and paypal fees.
